The Designer
Christian Dior grew up in France and to the disappointment of his parents, wanted a life in the arts. His parents had sent him to Ecole des Sciences Politiques for five years hoping he would become a diplomat. After leaving school he opened a small art gallery in Darfur in 1928. He then began to do sketches for Haute Couture Houses in Paris and designed for Marcel Boussac, a gentleman who made his fortune from fabric.
